Old Coin

Old Coin is a Rare relic in Slay the Spire 2 that grants 300 Gold upon pickup. This is a massive injection of currency that immediately opens up significant purchasing power at the Shop, allowing you to buy powerful cards, relics, and potions or pay for card removal.

Three hundred Gold is roughly equivalent to the total gold earned from an entire act of normal combat rewards. Having this much gold available at once means you can make multiple high-impact Shop purchases in a single visit, such as buying a key relic and removing a curse, or purchasing two powerful cards and a potion. This kind of concentrated spending power can dramatically accelerate your deck's development.

Old Coin is strongest when found early in the run, as it gives you more Shop visits to spend the gold. It pairs well with Membership Card, which reduces Shop prices, and Courier, which improves Shop inventory. The relic loses value if there are no upcoming Shops or if the Shops do not offer anything useful. While Old Coin provides no ongoing combat benefit, the strategic advantage of a massive gold infusion should not be underestimated, as smart Shop purchases can define an entire run.
