True Grit

True Grit is a 1-cost Common Skill card for the Ironclad that grants 7 Block and Exhausts 1 card from your hand at random. The random Exhaust is a drawback that can sometimes remove important cards, but it also thins your deck and triggers Exhaust synergies.

True Grit's random Exhaust becomes an asset with Dark Embrace and Feel No Pain, which convert the Exhaust into card draw and additional Block. In a deck with many expendable cards, the random removal rarely hurts. Pair with Anger, which adds copies to your discard, providing good Exhaust fodder. Evil Eye rewards you with extra Block if you have Exhausted this turn, and Forgotten Ritual can convert the Exhaust into energy.

True Grit is a reliable Common Block card for the Ironclad with upside in Exhaust decks. Pick it in Act 1 for consistent Block, and it scales well into the late game as Exhaust synergies come online. Against Vantom and other enemies that add status cards to your deck, True Grit can Exhaust those statuses. Be cautious in small hand sizes where the random Exhaust might hit a critical card. It is one of the Ironclad's best Common defensive options.
