Enemy
Sludge Spinner
normal
The Sludge Spinner is an arachnid-like creature that spins webs of toxic sludge in the dark corners of the Underdocks in Act 1b. Its segmented body is coated in a viscous, bubbling slime, and it scuttles along the ceiling before dropping down to confront unwary travelers. The Sludge Spinner combines the web-spinning behavior of a spider with the corrosive properties of the Underdocks' polluted waterways.
During battle, the Sludge Spinner alternates between attacking and spinning sludge webs. Its attacks deal moderate damage accompanied by Poison application, and its web-spinning turns add Slimed or Burn status cards to the player's deck while it gains Block. Over time, the combination of direct damage, Poison ticks, and deck pollution makes the Sludge Spinner an insidious threat that grows more dangerous the longer the fight continues.
Speed is the best strategy against the Sludge Spinner. Rush it down before it can fill your deck with status cards and stack Poison on you. Prioritize damage over defense in the early turns, only blocking when it telegraphs a heavy attack. Cards that remove or prevent status effects are valuable here, and any form of Poison removal helps mitigate its damage-over-time strategy. If possible, save area-of-effect attacks for encounters where it appears alongside other Underdocks enemies.
