Card
Burn
Unplayable. At the end of your turn, take 2 damage.
Burn is a harmful status card added to your deck by fire-themed enemies and certain boss abilities. It is Unplayable, meaning you cannot use it for any benefit, and at the end of your turn it deals 2 damage to you if it remains in your hand. Multiple Burns in hand compound the damage rapidly, making them among the most dangerous status cards in Slay the Spire 2.
The best counters to Burn vary by character. The Ironclad can turn Burns into fuel with Feel No Pain, gaining 3 Block each time one is exhausted, or use Second Wind to exhaust all non-Attack cards including Burns for massive Block. True Grit randomly exhausts a card and can clear Burns over time. The Silent's Survivor discards a Burn while gaining Block, and Calculated Gamble can dump an entire hand of Burns. The Defect's Compact can transform a status card into useful Fuel. For the Necrobinder, exhaust-focused Soul cards can consume Burns along with other hand clutter.
Burns are commonly inflicted by the Ironclad's own card Immolate, which adds a Burn to your discard pile as a tradeoff for its massive 21 AoE damage. Enemies in the Overgrowth like Fogmog and the boss Ceremonial Beast also inflict Burns. If you are picking up Burn-generating cards like Immolate or facing Burn-heavy encounters, prioritize having at least one exhaust or discard outlet in your deck.
