Tactician

Tactician is a 1-cost uncommon Skill card for the Silent that gains 1 energy when discarded. The card is not meant to be played for its energy cost but instead discarded by other card effects to generate free energy. This turns discard effects from costs into benefits, fueling more powerful turns.

Tactician synergizes with Calculated Gamble, which discards your entire hand including Tactician for free energy. Acrobatics and Prepared both discard cards as part of their effect, making Tactician a natural complement. Survivor discards a card to gain Block, and discarding Tactician provides energy on top. Tools of the Trade discards a card each turn, providing a reliable Tactician trigger.

Silent players should pick Tactician when they have reliable discard effects in their deck, as it provides essentially free energy that enables bigger turns. It is particularly strong in combination with Reflex, which also triggers on discard. The card is dead weight if you lack discard enablers, so only commit to it with proper support. It helps against energy-hungry boss fights like Doormaker.
