The Silent is a deadly hunter and one of the five playable characters in Slay the Spire 2. With 70 starting HP and the starting relic Ring of the Snake that draws 2 additional cards on the first turn of combat, the Silent is built for precision, card manipulation, and overwhelming enemies through Poison, Shivs, and careful hand management. Her starting deck includes 5 Strikes, 5 Defends, Neutralize, and Survivor.
The Silent's card pool supports four distinct archetypes. Poison builds use Noxious Fumes, Bouncing Flask, Deadly Poison, and Envenom to stack Poison on enemies, then amplify the damage with Outbreak and Corrosive Wave. Shiv Engine builds generate cheap 0-cost attacks using Blade Dance, Cloak and Dagger, and Infinite Blades, powered up by Accuracy and triggering effects from Afterimage and Fan of Knives. Block and Dexterity builds stack permanent Dexterity with Footwork, then leverage efficient Block cards like Backflip, Dodge and Roll, and Blur for unbreakable defense, with Wraith Form as the ultimate defensive option. Discard Synergy builds use Calculated Gamble, Tactician, and Reflex to generate Energy and card draw from discarding, fueled by Acrobatics, Prepared, and Survivor.
Standout Silent cards include Footwork, one of the best uncommon powers in the game that makes every Block card in your deck more effective. Backstab provides guaranteed first-turn damage thanks to Innate. Noxious Fumes is a hands-free Poison engine that scales in long fights. At the rare tier, Wraith Form's Intangible is the most powerful defensive effect available to any character, though its Dexterity loss demands careful timing. Burst doubles your next Skill, enabling devastating combos with Bouncing Flask, Catalyst, or defensive options.
The Silent thrives against multi-enemy encounters where Poison spreads across all targets via Noxious Fumes and Corrosive Wave, making her excellent against fights like Exoskeleton Pack and the boss Doormaker's portal-spawning mechanics. She can struggle against bosses with massive single-turn burst damage before her scaling comes online, such as Vantom. Compared to the Ironclad's brute force, the Silent rewards patient play and deck manipulation. Ring of the Snake's extra first-turn draw gives her an information advantage that skilled players leverage to plan their opening turns precisely.
