Biased Cognition

Biased Cognition is a rare Defect Power costing 1 Energy that grants an immediate 4 Focus but causes you to lose 1 Focus at the start of each subsequent turn. This creates a window of extreme Orb power that gradually diminishes, making it ideal for aggressive strategies that aim to end fights quickly or leverage the burst Focus for setup.

Biased Cognition pairs dramatically with Defragment, which provides permanent Focus to counteract the ongoing loss. Core Surge grants an Artifact that can block one tick of Focus loss. Amplify doubles Biased Cognition for 8 Focus in a single turn, and Echo Form ensures the doubling happens automatically.

For the Defect, Biased Cognition is one of the highest-impact cards available. Against bosses like Vantom and Soul Fysh where fast kills are necessary, the burst Focus enables Frost Orbs to generate 10+ Block each and Lightning to deal devastating damage. Against longer fights like Kaiser Crab, pair it with Defragment to sustain Focus over time. The card is so powerful that it often defines your win condition: play it, then close the fight before the Focus drain becomes critical.
