Kaiser Crab

Kaiser Crab is one of the Act 2 bosses encountered in the Hive and is notorious for generating massive amounts of Block that can stall out damage-focused strategies. Kaiser Crab's Block stacking turns the fight into a war of attrition, rewarding builds that can bypass or overwhelm its defenses. This is one of the most polarizing boss fights in Slay the Spire 2, where your deck archetype determines whether the fight is trivial or nearly impossible.

The Silent's Poison is the premier strategy against Kaiser Crab because Poison damage completely ignores Block. Noxious Fumes, Bouncing Flask, Corrosive Wave, and Envenom stack Poison that ticks through the Crab's massive defenses. The Necrobinder's Doom is equally effective: once Doom stacks exceed the Crab's current HP, the execution triggers regardless of how much Block it has accumulated. End of Days and Reaper Form can stack Doom rapidly. For the Ironclad, Demon Form provides the sustained Strength scaling needed to eventually punch through any amount of Block, while Fiend Fire can deal enormous burst damage in a single turn.

The Defect faces a moderate challenge against Kaiser Crab. Focus-scaled Lightning Orbs deal consistent damage but may not outpace the Crab's Block generation without significant scaling from Biased Cognition or Electrodynamics. Dark Orbs are particularly effective since they accumulate damage each turn and deliver it all at once on evoke, potentially exceeding the Crab's Block in a single hit. The Regent's forged cards need to provide enough raw damage to contest the Block stacking. Against Kaiser Crab, Vulnerable application from Bash, Thunderclap, and Expose increases your damage by 50%, which helps overcome the Block advantage. This boss is a key reason why players should ensure their deck has at least one win condition that scales indefinitely or bypasses Block entirely.
