Sunder is an uncommon Defect attack costing 3 Energy that deals 24 damage, refunding 3 Energy if it kills the target. The high cost makes it a heavy investment, but the kill-refund mechanic means Sunder is essentially free when it secures a kill, enabling follow-up plays on the same turn.

Sunder pairs with Beam Cell to apply Vulnerable for 36 effective damage on the killing blow. Double Energy provides the Energy to play Sunder alongside other cards, and TURBO offers a quick 2 Energy boost toward the 3 cost. Uproar can play Sunder for free as a random Attack from the draw pile.

For the Defect, Sunder is best against encounters where enemies can be killed individually, like multi-enemy hallway fights and bosses with minions such as Ceremonial Beast. Against single high-HP bosses like Kaiser Crab, the kill refund rarely triggers. Pick Sunder when you need high single-target burst damage and have the Energy generation to afford its steep cost.
