Ceremonial Beast
boss
Ceremonial Beast is one of the Act 1a bosses encountered in the Overgrowth. This hulking creature combines high HP with add-spawning mechanics, testing your ability to balance single-target damage with AoE clearing. The Ceremonial Beast is often considered the most predictable of the Act 1a bosses, making it a manageable fight for most deck archetypes if you plan around its mechanics.
The Ironclad handles the Ceremonial Beast well with Thunderclap and Whirlwind for add clearing, while Inflame and Bash provide the single-target damage needed to burn down the boss. The Silent's Noxious Fumes is outstanding here, applying Poison to all enemies automatically each turn, while Dagger Spray and Blade Dance with Accuracy handle adds efficiently. The Defect's Sweeping Beam and electrified Orbs clear adds passively, and Dualcast provides burst damage on the boss. The Necrobinder's Bone Shards commands Osty to damage all enemies, and Doom stacks on the boss accumulate while you clear minions.
For the Regent, the Ceremonial Beast fight provides valuable time to generate Stars from Venerate and Falling Star while dealing with adds. When facing the Ceremonial Beast, prioritize clearing adds before they overwhelm you, then focus damage on the boss during windows between spawns. Cards that deal AoE damage like Immolate are premium picks in the Overgrowth specifically because of this boss. If you chose the Lava Rock Ancient blessing, defeating the Ceremonial Beast rewards 2 relics instead of 1, making this fight even more impactful for your run's trajectory.
