Dazed

Unplayable. Ethereal.

Dazed is a status card that is both Unplayable and Ethereal. The Unplayable keyword means it occupies a hand slot without providing any benefit, while Ethereal means it automatically exhausts at end of turn if you do not play it. Since Dazed cannot be played, it always exhausts itself after one turn in hand, making it a temporary hand clog rather than a permanent deck pollutant.

While Dazed is less harmful than Burn or Void in isolation, it still wastes a precious card draw. The Ironclad can actually benefit from Dazed through exhaust synergies: Dark Embrace draws a card when Dazed auto-exhausts, and Feel No Pain generates 3 Block. This turns incoming Dazed cards into free triggers for your exhaust engine. The Silent can use Well-Laid Plans to retain important cards and let Dazed exhaust naturally. The Defect can channel Dazed's self-exhaust without any additional setup.

Dazed cards are commonly generated by the Defect's own Chaos orb interactions and by enemies that target your draw pile or hand. The boss Knowledge Demon is known to shuffle status cards including Dazed into your deck. Since Dazed self-destructs, it is less dangerous in longer fights but can disrupt critical early turns. For the Necrobinder, whose Graveyard mechanic interacts with exhausted cards, receiving Dazed can actually feed into retrieval strategies that pull useful cards back from the Graveyard.
