Relic

Lava Rock

Act 1 bosses drop 2 relics instead of 1.

Lava Rock is a relic tied to the Ancient blessing system in Slay the Spire 2. When selected, it causes Act 1 bosses to drop 2 relics instead of 1, doubling your relic rewards from the most impactful early-game encounters. This makes the Lava Rock Ancient blessing one of the most consistently powerful choices for accelerating your build's power curve.

The double relic drop from Lava Rock applies to whichever Act 1 boss you face, whether it is Ceremonial Beast, Kin Priest, or Vantom in the Overgrowth, or Lagavulin Matriarch and Soul Fysh in the Underdocks. Getting 2 relics from the Act 1 boss can be transformative for any character. The Ironclad might pick up both a Strength-boosting relic and a sustain relic. The Silent could find both an Energy relic and a Poison amplifier. The Defect benefits enormously from early Focus and Orb slot relics. The Regent gains more resources for Forge upgrades, and the Necrobinder can find relics that enhance all three of her archetypes simultaneously.

When choosing between Ancient blessings, Lava Rock's value depends on how confident you are in defeating the Act 1 boss. If your deck is strong enough to reliably beat Vantom, Lagavulin Matriarch, or any other Act 1 boss, the extra relic compounds in value across the entire remaining run. However, if you are struggling with Act 1, a blessing that strengthens your immediate combat ability might be more valuable. Lava Rock is especially strong on higher Ascension levels where relic advantages compound more meaningfully.
