Slay the Spire 2 Wiki

Relic

Ring of the Snake

At the start of each combat, draw 2 additional cards.

Ring of the Snake is the Silent's starting relic in Slay the Spire 2, drawing 2 additional cards at the start of the first turn of each combat. This burst of extra card draw on turn 1 gives the Silent an information advantage and setup potential that no other starting relic provides, allowing her to see more of her deck immediately and plan her opening turns with greater precision.

The extra draw synergizes powerfully with the Silent's card-manipulation playstyle. Drawing 7 cards on turn 1 instead of 5 means a much higher chance of seeing key setup cards like Footwork, Noxious Fumes, or Accuracy before the fight escalates. It also improves the value of Innate cards like Backstab, which is guaranteed to be in your opening hand alongside the 2 bonus draws. For Shiv builds, the extra cards provide more fuel for Blade Dance and Cloak and Dagger plays on the critical first turn.

Ring of the Snake is particularly impactful in short fights where turn 1 tempo matters most, such as against hallway enemies in the Overgrowth and Underdocks. Against bosses like Kin Priest and Lagavulin Matriarch where early setup is crucial, the extra draw helps the Silent establish Poison or Dexterity stacking before the boss's damage escalates. The relic also pairs well with Well-Laid Plans, as seeing more cards on turn 1 gives you better options for which card to retain. Compared to the Ironclad's sustain from Burning Blood, Ring of the Snake offers tempo and consistency rather than raw healing.
