Card
Rupture
Whenever you lose HP from a card, gain 1 Strength.
Rupture is a 1-cost Uncommon Power card for the Ironclad that grants 1 Strength each time you lose HP from playing one of your own cards. This creates a unique scaling engine where self-damage becomes a benefit rather than a cost, rewarding the Ironclad's distinctive mechanic of paying HP to gain power.
Rupture transforms self-damage cards into Strength engines. Brutality triggers it every turn passively, while Offering gives a large HP payment that translates to Strength. Hemokinesis, Bloodletting, Blood Wall, Breakthrough, and Hellraiser all trigger Rupture, turning their HP costs into permanent power gains. Crimson Mantle serves a similar role and can stack alongside Rupture for double Strength generation from each HP loss.
Rupture is a build-defining card for the Ironclad's self-damage archetype. Pick it early if you already have or expect to find multiple self-damage cards. It is excellent against Lagavulin Matriarch, whose Strength debuffs can be offset by the continuous Strength generation. The card is weak if you only have one or two self-damage triggers, so evaluate your deck composition before taking it. Against Doormaker, the sustained Strength from Rupture helps you handle the multi-phase fight.
