Enemy
Bygone Effigy
elite
Bygone Effigy is an elite enemy in the Overgrowth during Act 1a. This ancient, statue-like creature uses a combination of high damage attacks and defensive mechanics that make it a challenging early-game elite. The Bygone Effigy rewards aggressive strategies that can break through its defenses before it powers up.
The Ironclad should use Bash for Vulnerable application and prioritize high-damage attacks like Bludgeon or Headbutt. Offering provides a burst of Energy and card draw to front-load damage. The Silent's Backstab deals guaranteed first-turn damage thanks to Innate, and Leg Sweep provides both Block and Weak to slow the Effigy down. Footwork helps maintain defense throughout the fight. The Defect benefits from Focus scaling through Defragment to empower Orb damage.
The Necrobinder can use Doom from Blight Strike to set up execution, bypassing the Effigy's defensive mechanics entirely. The Regent builds Stars while maintaining pressure. Bygone Effigy is encountered in the same Overgrowth elite pool as Byrdonis and Phrog Parasite, so players pathing through the Overgrowth should prepare for any of these three elite encounters.
